It’s not just ‘another hotel’ in Cabo de Gata. We knew what type of service we would get (we recommended it by friends0.. And the result was even better than we could have imagined. Only 3 rooms (complete: air conditioning, large bathroom, ceiling fan, dressing room, fridge, towels etc) our room also had a large private terrace (to wake up surrounded by mountains and to see the stars before going to bed was a luxury). The communal areas (pool, jacuzzi, dining terrace) are delightful. And what makes Agua Marina different is to share the ‘roof’ with the hosts, Merche and Pepe. 100% at the service of their guests with infinite kindness; what’s the best beach depending on the wind, where to eat (simple, chic, elegant, cheap, expensive, fashionable, etc) where to find adventure, snorkel, what to visit, local products, recipes etc etc.. They live there, share the communal areas and obviously have other private areas. But even more to their credit is that they know how to give each guest the degree of proximity with which he is most comfortable. From sharing a delicious and hearty barbecue with them and other guests and at the same time knowing when to maintain a polite distance from guests seeking a bit more privacy. It’s situated on the outskirts of San Jose, barely 1.5km away from the beach, although it is common to drive to the endless beaches in the area. As well as providing breakfast, they offer to make other food – beach picnic, dinner or even a barbeque if you give them 24 hours notice and for a reasonable price. I hope we can return but without a doubt, I will also recommend it to friends who are keen to enjoy this beautiful part of Spain
